SUPERB TURNOUT FOR COVID-SECURE BART's BASH

Published 3:12pm on 17 Sep 2020

Bart's Bash is the world's largest sailing event, where sailors of all experience and ability across all forms of the sport, from wakeboarding through to ocean racing, using the unique Bart Number for handicapping, with all funds raised going to the Andrew Simpson Foundation.

This year's Redesmere Bart's Bash event was held on Sunday 13th September, with a tremendous turnout for the 'race' and subsequent 'Afternoon Tea' (provided by the Club's Social Team). Members and friends of all ages, experience and aspiration took part, in a true reflection of the Bart's Bash ethos; for some this was was the first time they had ever raced and for others it is the only race they will enter this year - that is how special an event Bart's Bash is. As usual, the entire fleet of free-to-use Club Boats was available for Members use, with Club Optimists, Toppers, Fevas, Neos and Quest all on the water, sailing alongside the varied fleet of Members' own boats - ranging from the latest modern single-handers to traditional single and double-handed 'clinker-built' boats.

After the event, and a brief break for an 'Afternoon Tea', many Members spent the afternoon Social Sailing, making the most of the sun and breeze.
