Redesmere Laser Trophy Fleet One Day Event...

Our first Laser fleet only event was held on Saturday 22nd March and attracted 12 boats with full rigs, 1 radial and a Laser 2000. The weather was kind, being pleasantly warm and sunny, with a nice southerly wind. Dave Wainwright as OD set a good course 4, 2, 7, 8 for the 3 races. To add to the competition and as a bit of fun, 4 commemorative mugs were up for grabs for 1st, 2nd, 3rd places and a miscellaneous Captains' Mug Award. Laser Trophy Gallery

The racing was very close throughout the day, but Chris White's experience paid off in the end with 1st place overall. On his tail were Alex Strickland (2nd place) in his new boat, and Andy Jones (3rd place) in Alex's old boat! Jonas Boren wasn't far behind in 4th place. Newcomer to our group Lee Cundall did well enjoying the Laser experience.

We had a prize giving at the end of the day and our new Sailing Secretary Steve Playford was on hand to announce the results and present the Laser trophy and mugs. The Laser captains discretionary mug went to the 'triple' handed Laser 2000 crew of Richard, Charlotte and Thomas Batty who thoroughly enjoyed their outing. Thanks to everyone who supported and took part in our Inaugural Laser Fleet Day.

Hopefully we can make this an annual event.
