ICLA Laser Open 16th June

ILCA UK/Laser Northern Grand Prix Open Series Round hosted by Redesmere
Following the cancelation of our Laser Open event in April due to Storm Kathleen, we ran again on Sunday 16 June. The weather conditions were kinder second time round, although a swirly westerly wind was not the best to highlight the club. The experienced dream team of Jon as OD and Jim as AOD made some quick decisions and provided a Committee boat start for the 3 races, which provided some good racing.
We attracted a healthy number of entries, 8 travelling sailors and 11 home boats. 19 in all.
It was good to see how it can be done and Ian Jones from the Dovestone SC again came out on top, with Tim Keighley in second place from West Riding SC. Our Tom Brindley took 3rd place and best Redesmere sailor. James Parry had a very good day in 7th place and the next best Redesmere. Lewis Bacon was the best ILCA 6 and Youth, from Leigh & Lowton SC.
Many thanks to everyone who supported our event. OD, AOD, the safety cover team, and the catering ladies who provided a welcoming tea and toast, lunch with a choice of pastas, and mountains of delicious cake and biscuits for the prize giving at the end. Also, to Steve acting as Beachmaster, sorting the parking, and providing the friendly face of Redesmere to the visitors. Thanks to Guy, for guiding me through the preliminary admin for the event and advising me along the way. And to Rachel, Sharon and Guy for tidying the club in preparation and helping with shifting some of the weed.
