RACING RETURNS, ALONGSIDE INFORMAL SAILING & USE OF CLUB BOATS
Published 12:00am on 16 May 2020
Following review of the latest UK Government Covid-19 guidance and the RYA's 'Return to Boating: Be Considerate, Be Conservative' advice, Redesmere SC has extended its initial reopening for Informal Sailing (and SUP) activities to include Members use of the Club's free-to-use fleet of 40 Club Boats and limited racing. Further information on the Club's current 'on the water' activities is available from our Calendar, whilst a selection of photographs from the first Lockdown Informal Sails are available from our Gallery.
The Club has put measures in place to support Social Distancing and hygiene recommendations and Members are now able to sail on the lake 'at their own risk,' although we urge all Members to comply with the latest and emerging Government advice. Safety Cover is available throughout the week on a self-recovery basis, while Member Volunteers are providing regular windows of Safety Cover for those Members looking to exercise but unable to provide their own Safety Cover. Socially Distanced Competitive Sailing is also available twice a week with OD and Safety Cover provided by Member Volunteers. Use of the Clubhouse is currently restricted to toilet access and, obviously, First Aid and emergency facilities. Further details are available in the Club's Reopening Guidelines & FAQs.
The main Club Calendar of supported Social Sailing, RYA Training, regular Racing and social events remains suspended, unfortunately. The Club has a phased plan for return to our full calendar as soon as circumstances allow and Covid-19 guidance supports. Further details are available from Club Events.
