NEW 2020 CLUB BOAT FLEET

Published 1:00am on 22 Apr 2020

As part of its ongoing commitment to Members' free-to-use Turn-up and Play sailing and to high quality RYA Sail Training and Development, Redesmere has upgraded its entire adult Club Fleet of dinghies, for both 2-handed and single-handed sailing, which now totals over 40 free-to-use craft for sailors of all ages and experience - from 5yrs to 80+yrs and novice to serious racer.

2020 has seen the addition of four high quality, modern technology RS Neo single-handed dinghies to the fleet, for intermediate single-handed adult sailing. These are now available for Members' Informal Sailing, as lockdown eases, and are already proving highly popular.

The RS Neo is the ideal boat to bridge the gap between adults learning the basics of sailing in double-handed boats and then developing the confidence to sail and single-handed in a range of wind and weather conditions. It is also an ideal introduction to racing boat for those adults with a potential interest in Club Racing, before moving on to their own dinghy or one of the Clubs Laser dinghies.

Through 2018 and 2019, earlier phases of the Clubs upgrade of the free-to-use Club Fleet saw four high quality, modern technology RS Quest dinghies join the fleet for double-handed, family and exciting asymmetric spinnaker sailing (for those so-inclined), and for adult training. These relatively stable dinghies are ideal for less experienced sailors, but have sufficient flexibility to be exhilerating for more experienced sailors. Alongside these new double-handers, the Club also provided single-handed Laser dinghies to provide a range of options for more-experienced single-handed adult sailing - from international-racing quality Laser Standard to social Club sailing with Radial or 4.7 rigs.

For children and youth, the free-to-use Club Boat fleet includes RS Feva double-handers, Topper single-handers and Optimist dinghies, many of which are suitable for adult and child or smaller adults.

Further information is available elsewhere on this website about the entire Club Boat fleet.
