SUMMER SAILING SEASON HITS FULL SWING!
Published 8:12pm on 27 Jun 2021
With longer days, better weather and pleasant breezes, Club Members have taken full advantage of lockdown easing and a full calendar of activities. Throughout late Spring and through to Summer the calendar has included; Social Sailing for all; Junior and Adult RYA Training; regular racing for sailors of all experience and aspiration, whether complete novices or experienced international competitors; Community outreach to assist those who might not normally have the opportunity to sail or paddle board; free sailing skills and racing clinics from our team of RYA qualified Instructors and experienced racers; Solo class Northern Series open event; radio-controlled one-design fleet racing; fund-raising for our nominated local charity, Space4Autism, and Royal Manchester Children's Hospital; regular Ladies that Launch! events; Informal Sailing to simply enjoy the experience of being on the lake; and stand-up paddle boarding.
The full fleet of free-to-use Club Boats has been available throughout (with some additional Covid-secure measures) and have seen regular use.
Looking forward, and presuming Step 4 lockdown release happens, Members are looking forward to the return of our calendar of social events, including an Olympic Social Sail with family fun events and on overnight sleepover at the Club - all timed to coincide with the Olympic medal races for Redesmere's own Team GB Olympic laser sailor, Elliot Hanson.
With a stay-at-home Summer beckoning for many, we are looking forward to a thriving July and August, with something for everyone to enjoy their time on the water and enjoy the spirit that is truly 'Redesmere' - a Club run by its Members for its Members.
If you are not a Member of the Club, but want to know a little more about us and/or how anyone can enjoy the sport of sailing, whatever their skill, aspiration or budget, try our Club Page for an overview (or even how to Join Us) or feel free to Contact Us.
