2018 SUMMER SAILING FUN WEEKEND

This year's annual Summer Sailing and Fun weekend (30th June / 1st July) was a great success, packed full of activities for sailors and members of all ages, experience, abilities and aspiration, including

• Social Sailing for children and adults of all ages (Saturday)
• Fun races and games on the water (Saturday)
• BBQ culinary extravaganza, with something for everyone's palate (Saturday)
• Overnight camping on the grounds (Saturday)
• 'Full English' breakfast in the Clubhouse (Sunday)
• Endurance relay race (Sunday) - for an opportunity for sailors of all experience to work together over a series of 1 lap circuits, with the added 'fun' of each team boat changing one crew member per lap and 'bonus' forfeits for the leading boat each lap.

As usual, Saturday night was a roaring success with the fun carrying on well until the small hours (4am has been reported), but inevitably this led to a very small turnout in the morning for the fun relay. By 12noon there was still little evidence of any life in the camp and so, with very light winds as well, the fun relay was transformed into an afternoon of social sailing and ad hoc racing as people emerged from their tents into the light!

A great time was had by all an we're already looking forward to 2019's festival of fun on the water.
