REDESMERE SAILORS LEAD THE WAY...

Published 1:00am on 6 Sep 2019

Over the Summer Redesmere's Sailors have been active around the world, achieving success in Regional, National, European and World championship competitions.

On the back of a six week whirlwind tour of European competitions, Anya Haji-Michael secured a suite of victories at the recent Laser Nationals at Largs, including 1st Lady & 6th overall in the Radial. Alongside these Anya also secured 1st Uni; further success was achieved by Izzy Wallwork who secured 1st U19 girl. Anya is now preparing for the Laser Europeans (Poland) towards the end of August and the World Championships (Croatia) in October

Following his recent participation in the Tall Ships Race to Norway, Tom Brindley underpinned his current form as 1st in the North West Junior & Youth Traveller (NWJYT) with a 1st in the Radial Silver Fleet at the Largs Laser Nationals. Together with Anya and Izzy, this secured Redesmere the title of 'Best Radial Club' at the Nationals.

Elsewhere, Ollie Davenport continues to impress, building on last year's successes in the Solo class to win both the recent Albacore Nationals and 1st U24 in the Fireball Nationals. Meanwhile, whilst Elliot Hanson continues his worldwide sailing schedule in preparation for the imminent Japanese Olympics 'dress rehearsal' representing the UK.

All these sailors have come through Redesmere's RYA accredited Training Centre and continue to provide coaching and/or RYA accredited Dinghy Instruction at the Club, when available.
