ILCA Northern Grand Prix @ Redesmere Sailing Club 2nd April 2023

The day started with the race team setting a boat start with a course which was set for the forecast wind direction as no wind had yet materialised. The free tea and toast were much appreciated prior to briefing whilst waiting for the wind to fill in. When the 9 locals and 7 travellers set off for the start line the wind was starting to fill in but came and went throughout the day and was particularly shifty.

Ian Jones from Dovestones SC set the pace taking the win in the first race and setting the trend for the day. Hot on his transom were Tim Keighley from West Riding SC and local Tom Brindley who kept him on his toes. There were many battles throughout the fleet but the sailors behaved themselves for the race committee and there were no recalls or protests. Ian Jones took the overall event and Masters category. At the prize giving and he thanked the race committee, the Galley team for their excellent food and Redesmere Sailing Club for hosting the event.
