BANK HOLIDAY CHAMPAGNE SAILING - with something for everyone

Published 8:03pm on 7 May 2018

Another stunning sailing weekend, with something for everyone - the second of our fortnightly Social Sailing sessions, Power Boat Training, Sail Training, our regular Sunday Racing programme, with both Handicap and Pursuit Racing on the card, and 'Ladies that Launch' on Monday evening. The best of all that is Redesmere and, again, what great weather; blue skies, sun and a steady breeze.

Friday saw the first of our regular Friday Evening Junior Training sessions with a range of junior and youth members developing their skills in a range of Club Boats as they started or continued their progress through the RYA Youth Sailing Scheme under the watchful guidance and encouragement of our in-house RYA Accredited Training Team.

Saturday saw glorious Social Sailing with a steady breeze, lots of sun and with Brian as Beachmaster providing help and assistance as required - just the conditions to have a great time on and off the water and so many people did. It was great to see so much activity on and off the water as people just enjoyed the weather, the sailing, the Galley and, of course, the Bar.

Power Boat Level 2 training took place both in the Clubhouse and afloat, learning not just how to drive, but also key skills in manoeuvring and basic rescue. For those looking to brush up or improve their sailing, the second of our informal Progressive Skills 'clinics' also took place, with our enthusiastic RYA qualified team working with sailors of all abilities on all sailing matters, but with a focus this week on Launching and Returning to Shore.

The outstanding conditions continued through Monday for the first of the Club's bi-weekly 'Ladies that Launch' evenings, where the Ladies of the Club have the opportunity to savour the joys of sailing, good company and excellent homemade 'treats' in a peaceful and all female environment.

All in all, a great Redesmere weekend showcasing the best of Redesmere as members of all abilities, aspiration and experience have a great time learning new skills, dusting off old skills and generally having fun on the water. Long may it continue through the season.

If you want to know more, come on down anytime or drop in at the Club Open Day on Saturday 12th May. Alternatively, why not pop down to our next Social Sail (20th May) and see what you're missing!.
