Bart's Bash 2015
Published 1:00am on 30 Sep 2015
Bart's Bash is taking place on Sunday 20th September at 1pm. This is the second race of the day.
Those of you who took part last year will remember how enjoyable the day was. We had 32 boats on the water, taking part in a Guinness World Record attempt, with many more supporters ashore.
As a global event 2014 produced the following statistics:
• Event held in over 60 countries
• 30,734 sailors
• 87,228,403 metres sailed
• The Largest Sailing Race in the World certified by GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS
All of which means that Redesmere Sailing Club now holds a Guinness World Record (along with many other sailing clubs – but we don't mention that!)
This year we aim to beat our own record of 32 boat taking part in the race and, through Barts Buddies, to encourage friends, family and work colleagues to share our enjoyment of sailing. Why not invite a friend to crew for you or simply offer them a trip round the first buoy and back. The more people we have on the water, the better.
It is not essential that you sign up in advance but, if possible, please go to www.bartsbash.co.uk and register. If you require a club boat, could you please contact Rachel Ward training@redesmere.org.uk to book a boat and avoid disappointment on the day.
Why not arrive early and practice during the first race of the day and then stay on for the third – hopefully you will find out what you have been missing.
As an added incentive, after the race, home-made pulled pork baps, coleslaw and BBQ sauce will be on sale. And, as usual, the bar and galley will be open so please make every effort to come and join us for this fun day.
