Adult Training
Race Training
The race training is aimed at adults and juniors who want to improve their racing skills. You should be a competent sailor who has the sailing skills equivalent to an RYA Level 2 adult certificate, or RYA stage 3 junior certificate (you need not have taken an RYA course). Adults will race in the club GP14’s, juniors will use their own boat or a club Topper. Training is on five Sunday mornings in April and May and will consist of both theory sessions and practical exercises on the water, plus one evening theory session. The RYA ‘Start Racing’ certificate may be awarded if candidates have met the required standard. Please note that juniors should be aged 12 and above for this course (younger sailors may be accepted at the discretion of the Club Racing Coach). The course fee includes ‘The Racing Rules Companion’ book, by Bryan Willis.
Adult Training
Adult training is available at various times during the year covering RYA levels 1 and 2. There are three separate courses; the first for two full Saturdays, the second comprising of two Saturday morning sessions and one full Saturday and the third two full days during the normal working week. Please only book onto a course if you can attend all sessions. Adults are taught in the double-handed club GP14’s, with one instructor allocated to two candidates, subject to availability.
